Western Kentucky lost for the second time this season to last year’s NCAA Cinderella Virginia Commonwealth, 68-45.
Kevin Kaspar got the starting nod once again for the Hilltoppers (1-5). Kaspar finished with six points, four rebounds, and a team-high three assists to go with a game-high six turnovers.
VCU regrouped and rattled off a game-defining 15-straight points to break the game open. Kaspar made one out of two free throws to snap the Ram scoring streak, but it would be another few minutes before WKU got its only field goal in the final 12-and-a-half minutes of the game.
For the season Kaspar is averaging 8.5 ppg (3rd highest). His 11 total assists are 2nd behind Derrick Gordon’s 15.
WKU continues this four-game homestand with a Saturday night contest against Southeastern Louisiana. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM, and the game will be broadcast on the radio on the Hilltopper IMG Sports Network. WKUSports.com will offer a live webcast, audio stream and live stats for the game.
