Cortland knocked down a school-record 17 3-point field goals and ran away with a 93-63 win over SUNYIT. The victory raises Cortland’s record to 8-2.
Garen Spendjian came off the bench for Cortland to score a season-high 8 points to go along with 2 rebounds and a steal. Spendjian recorded his first three-point make of the season and was 2-for-3 from downtown in the game.
The Red Dragons broke the previous school mark of 15 three-pointers set twice previously – last season versus Plattsburgh and in the 2007-08 season versus SUNYIT. Eight Cortland players made at least one trey…sophomore Garen Spendjian (Glen Cove, New York) hit two threes.
Cortland returns to action on Wednesday, January 4, when it hosts Nazareth College at 7 p.m. in a non-league game.
