For the second time this season Yale freshman guard Sarah Halejian has been named Ivy League Rookie of the Week.
Halejian (Wyckoff, N.J.) was instrumental in the Bulldogs’ two victories en route to being named Ivy League Rookie of the Week. She earned her first Rookie of the Week award on December 19. The freshman averaged 13.5 points, 3.0 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals in two games for the Bulldogs, as Yale went 2-0 on the week. Halejian posted 13 points, four assists and three rebounds in her team’s 69-48 win at Bucknell and followed that with a 14-point, three-steal, two-rebound performance as Yale took down Baruch, 80-47.
“Sarah is getting a lot of things figured out about playing Division I and playing Bulldog basketball,” said Chris Gobrecht, Head Coach of Women’s Basketball. “If she continues to improve, she will be one of the best young guards in the league by the end of the season.”
